Joe and Melissa work in the garden. Joe is talkative. Melissa appears to not really be listening.

Joe: Remember when I got fired?

Melissa: Mmm. Hand me those seedlings, Joe.

Joe: That radio lady said, “has God ever thrown you a curve ball?”

Melissa: Fertilizer please.

Joe: Right there in the car, I said, “throw me a curveball, God. I’ll hit it outta the park.”

Melissa: Careful with those fragile roots.

Joe: I thought I was untouchable. Then they fired me.

Melissa: Now, ease them into the ground.

Joe: Life is funny.

Melissa: And it turned out perfect, didn’t it, Joe?
